SVSU Signs Agreements With St. Clair County Community College
|
St. Clair County Community College (SC4) and SVSU signed a Memorandum of Understanding Thursday, April 9 to expand higher education access to residents throughout the Thumb and Southeast Michigan.
The new understanding marks a significant expansion of collaboration between the two institutions, creating transformative new pathways for students to earn bachelor’s — and eventually master’s — degrees without leaving their home community. As part of the relationship, SC4 graduates will also receive guaranteed admission to SVSU, further strengthening a seamless transfer experience for students across the region.
“Expanding educational offerings, degree pathways, internship experiences and more is good for our students, good for our communities, good for our employers and good for our state,” said George Grant Jr, president of Saginaw Valley State University.
“Like SC4, we believe that students should be challenged in the classroom – we want them prepared in their career fields – but we want to remove confusion in other areas so students can focus on learning. These agreements are an important step in that direction and will help students build their careers to meet the workforce needs our employers face every day.”
In addition, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Concurrent Pathway Agreement was finalized, providing SC4 nursing students with a streamlined, coordinated route to complete their bachelor’s degree at SVSU. This innovative pathway allows students to enroll simultaneously at both institutions, meeting critical workforce needs while accelerating career advancement.

New Campus Signs Are Here!
|
Last fall, we kicked off a campus visual refresh in partnership with University Communications and Campus Facilities, starting by clearing out outdated signs, banners and displays. Now, Phase 2 is underway: installation. These new signs and sculptures are designed to do more than look good. They help create a stronger first impression, reinforce the SVSU brand, and shape a more welcoming, unified campus experience for students, families and visitors. A polished, easy-to-navigate campus also enhances the visit experience, an important factor in turning prospective students into enrolled Cardinals. Clear, consistent signage helps visitors navigate campus with confidence, reducing confusion and creating a more positive visit from the moment they arrive. Updated visuals and messaging better reflect today’s SVSU, ensuring prospective students and families see a campus that feels current, vibrant and aligned with their expectations. New photo displays and branded elements highlight student life, academic opportunities and campus pride, helping visitors picture themselves here. Thoughtfully designed spaces also encourage photos and social sharing, extending SVSU’s reach and visibility to future students. Together, these improvements create a more engaging and memorable campus visit, strengthening connections with prospective students and supporting enrollment growth.
