Opportunities for Psychology Students

The Psychology Club

Involves and informs the SVSU community about psychology while providing opportunities for fun and fellowship by sponsoring such activities as field trips, bake and book sales, faculty/student discussion sessions, study groups, and community volunteer projects.

Psi Chi, the national honor society in psychology

Membership is by invitation to Junior and Senior students at SVSU who have demonstrated a high level of academic performance. Students in Psi Chi meet with other psychology students across the nation at professional conferences, conduct research seminars and discussions, sponsor field trips, parties, and explore career options in psychology together.

P.R.I.M.E, Psychology Resource Information Mentorship Encouragement

A peer mentorship program that provides a mentor (an upper level psychology major) to new psychology majors and minors based on common interests in psychology. The program allows new or returning students to become more familiar with the psychology department and its resources. Mentees can receive advice on college life, study techniques, and help with planning their schedule.

Additional Resources and Opportunities

These professional organizations and scholarly societies provide valuable resources for psychology students exploring academic interests, research opportunities, career paths, and graduate study. Many offer access to journals, conferences, webinars, career guidance, and networking with professionals in specialized areas of psychology—from clinical, social, and cognitive neuroscience to health, organizational, and developmental psychology.
