Over 500 Saginaw Valley State University students are preparing to receive their degrees. SVSU will celebrate the fall 2025 graduates during two commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 13, in the Ryder Center.

The first ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. and will recognize graduates from the College of Arts and Behavioral Sciences, the Scott L. Carmona College of Business and the College of Science, Engineering and Technology. Suzanne Greenberg, executive director of Children Trust Michigan, will deliver the commencement address. The ceremony will be livestreamed here.

At 2:30 p.m., degrees will be conferred upon graduates from the College of Education and the Crystal M. Lange College of Health and Human Services. Dr. Ramont M. Roberts, superintendent of Saginaw Public Schools, will deliver remarks. The ceremony will be livestreamed here.

Both Greenberg and Roberts will receive honorary degrees from SVSU.

In 2019, Greenberg assumed leadership of Children Trust Michigan, the state’s only agency dedicated solely to the prevention of child abuse and neglect, which supports more than 100 local prevention programs across all 83 Michigan counties. A lifelong advocate for children and families, Greenberg previously served as executive director of the CAN (Child Abuse and Neglect) Council Great Lakes Bay Region, where she expanded the organization’s services across four counties and increased its staff from two part-time employees to more than 25. In 2020, she received the CAN Council's Child Advocate of the Year award, which is now named after her.

Dr. Roberts, a Saginaw native and graduate of Buena Vista High School, has devoted his career to advancing educational equity and innovation in Michigan’s public schools. Among Roberts’s achievements as superintendent of Saginaw Public Schools was the development of a community-wide strategic plan that resulted in the successful passage of a $100 million bond initiative, funding new and renovated facilities including Handley Elementary School, Saginaw Arts and Sciences Academy and Saginaw United High School. His work has been featured in the American School Board Journal and recognized for transforming the district into a 21st century learning environment.
