SVSU dean to receive YWCA Lifetime Achievement Award

Marcia Ditmyer, dean of Saginaw Valley State University’s College of Health and Human Services, has been named the recipient of the YWCA Great Lakes Bay Region’s Lifetime Achievement Award for 2025. Ditmyer will be honored during the organization’s 13th annual Women of Achievement Awards luncheon on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at SVSU.
Ditmyer is being recognized for her visionary approach to academic leadership; commitment to improving health outcomes, expanding opportunity and building stronger communities; and her mentorship and advocacy.

Ditmyer joined SVSU as dean of the Crystal M. Lange College of Health and Human Services in 2021. She has been instrumental in establishing SVSU’s partnership with the Medical Diamond, which will be a center of excellence for graduate health professions education and a hub for public and behavioral health providers.

A Michigan native, Ditmyer earned an M.B.A. from Central Michigan University, a master’s degree from California College for Health Sciences and a Ph.D. from the University of Toledo. She is a Master Certified Health Education Specialist and has professional experience as an epidemiologist, researcher and community health specialist.

The Women of Achievement Awards, hosted by YWCA Great Lakes Bay Region, honor women who have made enduring contributions to the social, cultural, family, economic, educational and political well-being of the community. Categories include business and entrepreneurship, civic and nonprofit, arts and education, health care, social justice and advocacy.
