SVSU to host saxophonist Derek Brown in concert

Saginaw Valley State University and the Rhea Miller Concert Series will host saxophonist Derek Brown on Friday, Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Rhea Miller Recital Hall.

The performance is free and open to the public. In compliance with the university’s COVID-19 policy, masks/face coverings will be required.

Brown’s playing style crosses genres from jazz to classical to funk, without looping or electronic effects. With over 150,000 YouTube subscriptions, his ongoing “BEATBoX SAX” music videos and tutorials on YouTube have been enormously popular among saxophonists and music lovers alike. He has performed solo concerts in all 50 United States and over 25 countries around the world.

The Rhea Miller Concert Series is made possible by a generous gift from Rhea E. Miller, a longtime friend of SVSU. Her gift, administered by the Miller Trust for Music Education, has provided the university with the opportunity to offer outstanding performances by nationally and internationally acclaimed musical artists at no cost to the audience since 1993.
