Higher Education

  • The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching - Andrew Carnegie founded The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching in 1905, "to do all things necessary to encourage, uphold and dignify the profession of teaching." The Foundation is the only advanced study center for teachers in the world and the third oldest foundation in the nation; a small group of distinguished scholars conducts the Foundation's research activities.  The Carnegie Foundation is also the home of the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.
  • College Board - The College Board is another of what we call popular data sources. Its web site gives information about and lists statistical tables from two College Board surveys --- the Annual Survey of Colleges, 1997-98 and Trends in Student Aid: 1987 to 1997. The site also allows you to view the Common Data Set questions and to join the Common Data Set Discussion Group.
  • Presidents Council State Universities of Michigan - A nonprofit higher education association, which serves the 15 public universities of Michigan.  Reports comparing enrollment and tuition and fee charges among Michigan's 15 public universities are available.
