Loans and Financial Assistance

Recently graduated with a bachelor's degree? Don't forget to renew your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the upcoming fall semester! The FAFSA needs to be updated each year to ensure you continue receiving financial aid. For financial aid purposes, nine (9) credits is considered full-time for graduate programs.

Loans: SVSU participates in the Fall & Winter Payment Plans. Eligibility is based on the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students may also apply for alternative loans to help meet their cost of attendance. These alternative loans are student loans but require an additional application.

US Government-Sponsored Traineeships, Loans and Scholarships for Nurses: MSN students are notified of application procedures by the Graduate Program Coordinator. Clinical Faculty positions are often available on a part-time basis for MSN students. Contact Danielle Premo at dlpremo@svsu.edu, (989) 964-4172 or Gilbertson Hall-North Wing 242 for more information.

Tuition Reimbursement: Many companies reimburse employees for graduate-level coursework. Students should check with the Human Resources Department at their place of employment to see if this benefit is available.

Tuition Discount: Qualified employees at MyMichigan Health, McLaren Health Care and Covenant HealthCare received a 30% tuition discount. Michigan College Access Network (MCAN) counselors may also qualify for graduate program tuition discount.

Doors that I didn’t even know where part of my journey have opened since I completed this degree at SVSU. After viewing my capstone project/portfolio, I was offered an opportunity to interview for an e-Learning internship at Volkswagen Group of America.
