Our Mission

The Saginaw Valley State University Fraternity and Sorority community strives to promote standards of excellence through leadership, involvement and service opportunities. We will provide enrichment in academics, scholarship, social interactions and athletics while embracing diversity and the values of each individual organization. The Saginaw Valley State University Fraternity and Sorority community is committed to lifelong membership while empowering brotherhood and sisterhood in collaboration with the standards set by our educational institution.

We, the members of the Saginaw Valley State University Fraternity and Sorority community, aspire to grow in all areas, including chapter development and interaction with Saginaw Valley State University administration, other organizations and the local community. We will make every effort to better our university for all students through additional Greek sponsored events, scholarships and community service. We are devoted to creating a better Greek community by gaining resources from the university to establish Greek housing. We are committed to displaying positive Greek life and breaking stereotypes.

History of Fraternities and Sororities

Since the first Greek-letter society was formed in 1776 at the College of William and Mary, sororities and fraternities have aided many campuses in creating a dynamic and exciting campus culture.  Greek-letter organizations offer well-rounded co-curricular experiences rooted in the highest ideals of academic standards, philanthropic work, and premier leadership opportunities. We encourage you to join a chapter of your interest, as being a member of one of our 14 sorority and fraternity chapters offer many exciting leadership opportunities for you to grow and learn beyond your curricular coursework. Each organization is unique in its own way, but all offer the opportunity to experience leadership, social activities, service and philanthropy efforts, and best of all, lifelong friends.
