Building on the success of the community engagement sponsored events of the past years, Saginaw Valley State University’s Center for Community Engagement hosted the inaugural Community Engagement Conference in November 2019 with faculty and staff, their community partners, and students to focus on the work SVSU is involved in the Great Lakes Bay Region. This conference brought together 121 attendees and 22 presenting groups showcasing specifically how they have engaged in their communities to make a difference in the region. This conference featured the community engagement activities of SVSU faculty and staff through a “Human Gallery Walk”. Both faculty or staff and community members hosted their posters as conference participants walked through to review the work displayed.
In April 2022 a scaled version of the Community Engagement Conference was hosted the Emeriti Room. This event once again sought to highlight the community engaged work of SVSU faculty, staff, students and their community partners. The conference featured two panels, titled "Building Partnerships" and "Students in the Community".
