Welcome to SVSU! My name is Jennifer Pahl and I graduated from Frankenmuth High School in 1995. While at SVSU, I completed both my Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and my Master of Business Administration.
Even though I was only 20 minutes away from home as a student, I was fortunate to live on-campus where SVSU truly became my 'home away from home'. I was involved in numerous activities like being a Resident Assistant (RA) and being a member of great student organizations like Student Government and Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority. SVSU's growth has been amazing over the last 10 years but we still maintain that one-on-one interaction that is so important to all students. Make sure you come visit Cardinal Country and check us out!
Hello future Cardinals! I am originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee. After high school, I spent two years at a small, private university in Ohio before moving to Chicago, where I lived for another two years. When I moved to Michigan, I chose to transfer to SVSU because it has the best teaching program in the state and is a great value.
When I got to SVSU, I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly people and the opportunities to get involved. During my time here, I was the editor for Cardinal Sins (our literary magazine), a member of the Student Association, the winner of the MLK Essay Contest and so much more.
As an Associate Director of Admissions, my role is to enroll more and better students. To accomplish this, I visit students in classrooms across Bay, Huron, Tuscola, Lapeer, Sanilac and St. Clair Counties to talk with them about how SVSU can meet their needs. I also meet with students and their families in the Office of Admissions- so call and set an appointment to visit and meet with me today!
Hello!! I am Nic Taylor. I am originally from Flint, Michigan and graduated from Flint Hamady High School. During my college career, at Saginaw Valley State University, I was able to be a part of many different campus organizations. This ranged from being the President of the Student Association to starting a social fraternity. If you want to know any information on the campus involvement do not hesitate to give me a call!!!!!
My main responsibilities include updating publications, presenting to large groups, and overseeing our office technology. I will be visiting high schools in Genesee, and Saginaw counties. Be sure to come and visit me on campus!
Hola! My name is Carmen Stricker. I am Saginaw, Michigan and still live within the city limits. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, Masters in Organizational Leadership and Administration, and Teaching Certification in Secondary Education all from Saginaw Valley State University. As an undergraduate student, I worked four years within the Minority Student Service Office and two years as an orientation leader. I also was an active member of S.A.L.S.A. (Student Alliance of Latino Student Association) and a member of Sigma Lambda Gamma Sorority.
My main responsibilities include traveling throughout Michigan visiting high schools. My main objective is to inform prospective students about SVSU and to answer any questions they may have. In addition, I focus on Hispanic and local recruitment, partnership with Delta College, relationships with charter schools and working with non-traditional students. Feel free to stop in and visit with me. I guarantee you will be excited about what SVSU has to offer!
Welcome to Cardinal Country! My name is Jeff Zulauf. I am originally from Ubly located within the "Thumb" area of Michigan, where I received all of my K-12 education and graduated from in June 2000. I attended Saginaw Valley State University and graduated in December 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. I lived on campus, which gave me the chance to meet new interesting people and get involved within campus activities, including joining Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity.
My main responsibility in the Admissions Office is advising transfer students from other institutions. My other responsibilities include visiting high schools throughout Northern Lower Michigan and the entire Upper Peninsula, as well as counseling prospective students to make the decision to choose SVSU and all that this institution has to offer. Saginaw Valley State University is an inviting and exciting place to be. I hope to see you soon!
My name is Katrina Murrell and as an Assistant Director of Admissions I’m humbly provided the opportunity to sow a seed into YOUR future. I’m from Southfield, MI and a 2009 graduate from Cass Technical HS in Detroit. I will be visiting high schools of the Metro Detroit area to focus on cultivating a mindset in young people that allows them to think beyond where they currently are and to get a clear understanding that their academic and social choices set the tone for their transition to college.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design and Art minor in May 2013. My freshman year I served as President of the First Year Board Council, following my role as a Resident Assistant for 2 years. I was also a Mentor through the Office of Multicultural Services for 3 years, a year-Intern as a Peer Advisor in Academic Advising etc. SVSU really is a breeding ground for opportunities that will challenge and grow you in such a real way and I want to convey that message to students. Be blessed and encouraged!
Hello and welcome to SVSU! My name is Eric Davis. I am originally from Clio, MI, and I graduated from Clio High School in 2010. In May of 2014, I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from SVSU.
I had an amazing experience as a student here, with activities ranging from joining Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity to studying abroad in Europe for a semester. I also held multiple jobs on campus, including three years as a Peer Academic Advisor, two years as a tutor, and one year as a tour guide. My degree fills the top line of my resume, but my experiences as a student here at SVSU allowed me to fill in the rest. As an Assistant Director of Admissions, my goal is to maximize the potential of all students by enrolling them in this fine institution.
I will be travelling to high schools in the Western Michigan area to talk to students about how SVSU can meet their needs, as well as meeting with students in office who have come to visit our beautiful campus. I look forward to meeting with all of you future Cardinals!!
