Once registered for courses, McLaren Health Care employees must submit the “Educational Assistance Application Agreement Form” to your local McLaren Human Resources Department. This form is located on the McLaren Health Care Intranet under Human Resources/Tuition Assistance/Tuition Assistance Form.

NOTE: The "Educational Assistance Application Agreement Form" MUST be completed and submitted to Human Resources at least 3 weeks prior to course start date.

How do I apply?

Apply at https://www.svsu.edu/apply to complete an online application to SVSU. Note: Depending upon qualifications for additional financial aid, some eligible McLaren Health Care employees will receive notification of the tuition discount as part of their Financial Aid Offer letter.

How do I obtain the 30% SVSU tuition discount?

McLaren Health Care employees must submit the “Educational Assistance Application Agreement Form” to your local McLaren Human Resources Department. This form is located on the McLaren HealthCare Intranet under Human Resources/Tuition Assistance/Tuition Assistance Form. Employment must be verified at the beginning of each enrolled semester to obtain the discount.

What are the employment eligibility requirements?

McLaren Health Care Employees must submit their “Educational Assistance Application Form” to their local Human Resources Department at least 3 weeks prior to course start date to ensure eligibility. For questions or concerns, please contact your local McLaren Human Resources Department.

What courses and programs are eligible for the SVSU tuition discount for McLaren employees?

An eligible course/program must relate to employees’ current position, or to a reasonable job goal at McLaren Health Care (as determined by management within its discretion).

Can the SVSU 30% tuition discount be combined with the McLaren Health Care tuition reimbursement?

Yes! Employees are encouraged to take advantage of both the SVSU tuition discount (applied to your total tuition bill, once SVSU receives approval from McLaren Human Resource Departments) and the McLaren Health Care tuition reimbursement program (paid out to you after course completion, assuming all eligibility requirements are met).

How much tuition reimbursement can I qualify for with McLaren Health Care?

Eligible employees will receive up to $3000 per calendar year for BSN education. Non-BSN/other academic programs are up to $2000 per calendar year.

Do I have to complete a FAFSA or complete any financial aid requirements related to my FAFSA?

A FAFSA and its associated requirements are not required. However, completing a FAFSA may make you eligible for other Federal or State aid, so you should consider completing one at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa.

Can I transfer credits to SVSU?

Yes, students need to send their official regionally accredited transcript to SVSU.

Undergraduate students can possibly transfer up to 93 credits (depending on their transcripts). For specific nursing transfer courses, please contact the Nursing department chair for more information.

With the appropriate permissions, graduate students can transfer in a maximum of 9 graduate-level credits. The student must meet with the coordinator of their Graduate program, and they will review the credits.
