Board Exams

The Testing Center offers board examinations. The Board of Registry for each exam will provide the test, any directions and a list of the items each student can have in their possession during their examination. It is recommended that examinees confirm what items they will be allowed with the board before arriving to take their exam. The Testing Center is legally bound to follow all board protocols, including but not limited to time limits, what forms of ID are acceptable and what items are permitted in the testing rooms. Therefore, all rules and regulations will be strictly adhered to.

Students will not be allowed to leave the Testing Center with any exam materials. They may not leave and come back at a later time/date to complete the test without direct permission from the Board of Registry. Also, it is the student's responsibility to ensure that the Board of Registry has placed its test in the Testing Center before their scheduled exam date. Questions about exam content, formatting, allowed materials, and retakes should be directed to the Board of Registry for the examination. Questions regarding testing policies or procedures should be directed to the Testing Center at SVSU by emailing testing@svsu.edu or calling (989) 964-2820.

Board Exams Important Information

To take a board exam:

  1. Contact the Board of Registry for the examination that is needed and notify them that the test will be taken at the Testing Center at SVSU. The board will then contact the Testing Center and provide the necessary materials.
  2. Make an appointment with the Testing Center via RegisterBlast prior to taking the test; no walk-ins are allowed. Testers are required to choose the appropriate time slot for the exam. If the Board of Registry requires a five-hour window, the examinee must choose that time slot.
  3. Read the Testing Center's rules before arriving to take the exam.
  4. Arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time to complete registration. Students should not expect to spend this time preparing to take their exams. All studying should be completed before entering the Testing Center.

If a student cannot come to a scheduled exam, they may reschedule and/or cancel their appointment in one of two ways:

  1. They can access RegisterBlast and follow the prompts provided on the right side of the screen. Note: If the test is scheduled for less than 24 hours from the time a tester is trying to reschedule, RegisterBlast will not allow this option. Examinees should utilize the second option for rescheduling at this time.
  2. They can contact the Testing Center via email at testing@svsu.edu or phone at (989) 964-2820. If the Testing Center is closed, testers should leave their contact information, their reason for calling and a possible rescheduling date if applicable.

If payment has been made, the Testing Center will try to move the exam to another date so that the tester can avoid having to pay twice for the same exam. If the tester has scheduled for an exam they no longer need, and payment has been made, they can request a refund using the following steps:

  1. The Testing Center at SVSU should be contacted no less than two hours before the scheduled exam period.
  2. A written request, either in email or letter form, for an exam refund must be submitted to the Testing Center. The refund request must provide the student’s name, describe which exam they scheduled for (class, time and day) and provide a phone number where they can be reached.

Refunds to the original credit/debit card used will be administered within five business days; processing fees from RegisterBlast cannot be refunded. Testers who do not contact the Testing Center will be considered no shows and will not receive a refund. Examinees must contact the Board of Registry to discuss a refund for their test. The Testing Center can only refund the fees that it has collected.
