Program Requirements

1st Year Scholarship Contract Requirements:

  • Attend Summer Transition Camp at SVSU in mid August (dates determined each year). Housing and dining costs are covered by the PSA Scholar Program
  • Attend Welcome Back Cohort Meeting
  • Attend weekly meetings with assigned PSA Transition Coach
  • Submit Academic Progress Reports by the deadline indicated on the PSA Calendar
  • Complete 5 volunteer hours for the academic year
  • Attend required weekly study hours in the Melvin J. Zahnow Library. Hours must be documented using the swipe system and sign-in sheet located at the front desk of the Library
  • Attend and participate in monthly Cohort events:
    • Financial Aid Workshop
    • Dining Etiquette Workshop
    • Resume Workshop
    • Dress/Interview Workshop
    • Vision Board Party
  • Attend a cultural event offered by the University
  • Schedule and attend a meeting with an advisor from the Academic Advisement Center
  • Attend Annual End of the Year Recognition Luncheon
  • Maintain Grade Point Average (GPA) and Program Compliance requirements for scholarship renewal *
  • Obtain PSA Transition Coordinator approval prior to dropping or withdrawing from a course

2nd Year Scholarship Requirements:

  • Attend Welcome Back Cohort Meeting
  • Attend monthly meetings with Transition Coordinator
  • Submit Resume and Cover Letter to Canvas
  • Attend Financial Literacy Presentation
  • Attend pre-registration meeting hosted in March by PSA Office
  • Complete and submit College Graduation Plan to PSA Transition Coordinator
  • Submit Academic Progress reports by the deadline indicated on the PSA Calendar
  • Attend a cultural event offered by the University
  • Complete 5 volunteer hours for the academic year
  • Attend an informal meeting about Alternative Breaks or Study Abroad
  • Schedule and attend a meeting with the Department Chair or Department Advisor of your desired degree program
  • Attend Annual End of the Year Recognition Luncheon
  • Maintain Grade Point Average (GPA) and Program Compliance requirements for scholarship renewal *
  • Obtain PSA Transition Coordinator approval prior to dropping or withdrawing from a course

3rd Year Scholarship Requirements:

  • Attend Welcome Back Cohort Meeting
  • Attend monthly meetings with Transition Coordinator
  • Attend SVSU Graduate Admissions Workshop
  • Schedule and attend a meeting with the Department Chair or Department Advisor of your desired degree
  • Create a Linkedin profile
  • Attend pre-registration meeting hosted in March by PSA Office
  • Attend Financial Literacy Event
  • Submit Academic Progress Reports by the deadline indicated on the PSA calendar
  • Attend a cultural event offered by the University
  • Complete and submit College Graduation Plan to PSA Transition Coordinator
  • Complete 5 volunteer hours for the academic year
  • Attend Annual End of the Year Recognition Luncheon
  • Maintain Grade Point Average (GPA) and Program Compliance requirements for scholarship renewal. *
  • Obtain PSA Transition Coordinator approval prior to dropping or withdrawing from a course

4th Year Scholarship Requirements:

  • Attend Welcome Back Cohort Meeting
  • Attend monthly meetings with Transition Coordinator
  • Complete Senior Project (Fall semester)
  • Attend Vision Board event
  • Complete and submit College Graduation Plan to PSA Transition Coordinator
  • Attend Personal Statement Seminar
  • Submit Graduate School Personal Statement
  • Attend pre-registration meeting hosted in March by PSA Office
  • Attend Financial Literacy Event
  • Attend a cultural event offered by the University
  • Submit Academic Progress Reports by the deadline indicated on the PSA calendar
  • Complete 5 volunteer hours for the academic year
  • Attend Annual End of the Year Recognition Luncheon
  • Maintain Grade Point Average (GPA) and Program Compliance requirements for Winter scholarship renewal. *
  • Obtain PSA Transition Coordinator approval prior to dropping or withdrawing from a course

 

*PSA & SUPO staff reserves the right to place scholarship recipients on mandatory academic study schedules at any time, for any reason. Students with a GPA of 2.3 will be considered Probationary Students, and may have additional criteria added to the requirements listed above. Probationary students will be under review upon completion of each semester. Failure to comply with the contract requirements and evident academic improvement will result in loss of scholarship. Students with a GPA of 2.0 or below will not be eligible for scholarship renewal. Students with a GPA of 2.5 or above may be given some flexibility, depending on their level of academic success in courses taken at SVSU. The Scholarship Coordinator reserves the right to reinstate scholarships at their discretion.
