2021-2022 Outstanding Employee Award Winners

Command Sergeant Major Kenneth Covington

Chandler Park Academy High School
Career Technical Education (CTE) Program

Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Covington has been leading our largest CTE Program at the high school for ten years. He built the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) Program at Chandler Park Academy high school. Under his leadership, the JROTC Program has been classified as an "Honor Unit with distinction" on several occasions.

CSM Covington has provided our cadets with a plethora of opportunities during his tenure as leader of the JROTC program. He has organized trips to Washington DC, New York City, and several army bases. This has given students the opportunity to experience the history of the United States and enabled them to gain an appreciation for the armed services. CSM Covington has devoted much of his personal time to provide students with opportunities outside of the classroom. He has facilitated multiple JROTC extracurricular teams, including the rifle team, academic team, raiders team, drill team, and cadet challenge team. Each year he devotes a week of his time to work with cadets at the annual JCLC camp. Furthermore, CMS Covington has sought out CTE partnerships so that our students could gain experience with drones and robotics.
