Dear Fellow Cardinals,
I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to our campus community for a highly successful first week of classes. As I have walked around campus, I have observed the best of us. People are wearing their masks and maintaining social distancing. If someone has forgotten to put their mask back on indoors, they do so as soon as they are reminded. Most students I have seen are wearing their masks outdoors between classes; they are encouraging one another to do the right thing for all of us. Our NEST Ambassadors are answering questions, modeling proper behavior, and being that friendly face, even behind a mask. Faculty and staff who had not returned until recently have commented to me that they are impressed when they see the many safety measures we adopted.
We have enjoyed a very good first week, and we should take pride and comfort in that, but we cannot relax. We must remain vigilant in following the health and safety practices that protect us, both on and off campus. I implore everyone to exercise good judgment over the upcoming Labor Day weekend. Enjoy it, but enjoy it safely.
