COVID Safety Reminder

All Pre-Flight program attendees will be required to complete SVSU’s daily COVID-19 symptom screening through the Campus Clear app. Upon arrival at Pre-Flight and at SOAR, students will need to show the green approval screen to be admitted.

If you do not have access to a smartphone, you may use the web-based version of Campus Clear.

In addition to Campus Clear, all overnight guests (including those who have been fully vaccinated) will be required to wear a face mask and always maintain social distancing, including in the residence hall common areas, unless otherwise instructed. The health and safety of our students and staff is our #1 priority, and we thank you for your cooperation.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

On the day of SOAR, students will be asked to place their belongings in their locked vehicle if possible. If you do not have a vehicle, we will be able to check your belongings throughout the day and you may retrieve them after your SOAR is finished.

This program, along with SOAR, is designed for the student experience. While we value and appreciate parents of our new Cardinals, programming will not take place for parents at this time. We know the transition to college may present some challenges, and many parents may want to join their students on this next step. However, we want to give students the best possible opportunity to succeed in this transition by discovering their own unique place on our campus!

Attendees will be placed in housing based on their SOAR group. Please be advised that you will likely not be in the same room and SOAR group as siblings or friends, but this is a great opportunity to expand your social network and possibly meet new friends for the upcoming school year! There will still be plenty of opportunity to socialize at program events and meals.

By participating in a Pre-Flight program, you have agreed to abide by the SVSU Code of Student Conduct. In addition, all participants must remain on campus during the program and follow COVID health and safety guidelines.

If you require any accommodations (wheelchair access, interpreter, etc.), please email We hope to make your experience at Pre-Flight as enjoyable as possible!

Students who are not living on campus in the Fall are still welcome and encouraged to perticipate.
