The Office of Orientation is excited to welcome you and your student to SVSU. We hope these videos and additional handouts will assist you in your efforts to support your student's transition to college.   • Gerstacker Learning Commons

    Gerstacker Learning Commons is located on the second floor of Zahnow Library is the Gerstacker Learning Commons: a one-stop location where students can find the Center for Academic Achievement, the Math & Physics Resource Center, and the Writing Center. These three centers are staffed by trained undergraduate and professional tutors who offer individual and small-group tutoring to all SVSU students free of charge. Students can walk into any of the Centers for help, or they can make an appointment in advance.

  • NEST Webinar: Student Experience

    During this pre-recorded event, viewers learned more about modifications to student housing facilities and plans for moving students into their residential units; plans for some of SVSU’s traditional events, including those hosted by RSOs; the status of intercollegiate and club sports; modifications to spaces dedicated to Dining Services and the bookstore; and an update on-campus employment.

  • NEST Webinar: Campus & Academics Update

    We invite you to watch a special webinar for SVSU students and their families. During this pre-recorded event, viewers learned more about the NEST Plan, which included campus safety updates and modifications to campus buildings, residence halls and classrooms. In addition, updates regarding academics, course delivery and student support services were addressed. Viewers heard directly from our hard-working staff and faculty about the steps they are taking to enhance the student experience and offer flexible learning environments, both in lectures and labs.
