The History of the Garden:

Over the years a number of very active OLLI members have passed away.  We have learned that as their families and friends considered making donations in their memory, OLLI came to mind. In 2012, with the support of the SVSU Campus Facilities Office, we began planning a memorial garden.  

Our half-acre garden, which is located behind the Health and Human Services building,  features native plants and trees.  As it grows, it will be a pleasant place where members and other people may go to remember former friends and loved ones.  We expect the garden to draw others from the region who want to learn how to effectively use native plants in their own gardens.  We have chosen to feature natives because they are easier to maintain, but more importantly, to showcase the wonderful native options homeowners in the region might consider.


How You Can Be Involved:

Our garden is maintained by OLLI members with support from the university.  If you would like to be involved with the planting and maintenance of the garden, please contact our Memorial Garden Committee Chair:
