Beginning in 2017, each year an OLLI Advisory Board special committee selects from nominations received, one outstanding volunteer of the year from the OLLI membership. The OLLI Outstanding Volunteer of the Year goes above and beyond regular volunteer opportunities with OLLI, serving extra hours, on multiple committees, teaching classes, or leading numerous interest groups. This special volunteer will receive an individual plaque as well as have their name placed on a perpetual plaque in the OLLI main office in Curtiss Hall.
All OLLI volunteers make our organization what it is today--over 2000 active seniors in the Great Lakes Bay Region enjoying a full life of learning and fun!
Nomination forms for the OLLI Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award may be found to the right and are due by May 1 of each year.
In her first full year as chair of the OLLI Advisory Board, Leslie was pegged with the task of helping to hire a new director after the previous, long-time director, decided to retire. This called for countless extra hours for analyzing resumes, interviewing, and hiring. In addition, she regularly contributes to "The Adventurer," OLLI's monthly newsletter and introduces the guests at each month's monthly meeting.
2018 Rose Kohut
Rose Kohut has worked tirelessly through the years as an Advisory Board member and secretary, as an instructor for countless literature, grammar, and singing classes, and as the group leader for the OLLI's Follies singing interest group, which performs at area nursing and retirement homes.
2019 Bob Enszer
Bob Enszer has served as OLLI Advisory Board Chair in the past and as a member of the OLLI Curriculum Committee. He also has participated on the OLLI spelling team for the Altrusa International Spelling Bee each year. Bob is a retired teacher, and OLLI instructor of such classes as Mother Earth in the Decades Ahead, Language Matters from A to Z, and many more.
