The English language requirement for undergraduate admission is based on either an acceptable English proficiency test score per the table below, successful completion of 24 academic credits at a US Community College or University, or successful completion of an English course equivalent to SVSU's English 111.
Prospective graduate students must meet the minimum language requirement for their program before admission.

Saginaw Valley State University reserves the right to require in-house testing for students with noticeable discrepancies between official test scores and demonstrated skills.
The English language requirement is waived for students who have completed their high school or university studies in certain countries.
