SVSU keeps you connected to everything happening with your financial aid and scholarships, orientation, living arrangements and class schedule through your official SVSU account. To access your SVSU account, you will first need to register for the Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) system, then create a password using the links below. You will need your 7-digit SVSU ID number and username that can be found in your initial admissions packet.
A temporary password has been created for you using your 7-digit ID number, including the leading "0" + birth date. (Example: #######MMDDYY).
1 - Watch the video that shows how to register for SSPR and change your password.
2 - Then, do it yourself! Click on the REGISTER FOR SSPR button to begin setting up your account.
3 - Click on the CHANGE PASSWORD button and you will be prompted to create your own, unique SVSU password.
After you have created your new password and reviewed steps 2-5, below, log into your "my.SVSU.edu" account to complete the next enrollment steps. Welcome to SVSU!
Congratulations! You’ve been accepted, and you’ve set up your my.SVSU.edu account. Now it’s time to set up your financial aid. The first step is submitting your FAFSA online to the government. The earlier you get your FAFSA submitted, the better. Your FAFSA directly impacts SVSU’s ability to give you additional scholarships and grants. FAFSA forms are available starting October 1. Once you have submitted your FAFSA, starting December 1, SVSU will send your electronic Financial Aid Award notification to your my.SVSU.edu account. You can also apply for additional private scholarships through SVSU starting December 1. Want more information? Follow our Financial Aid Enrollment Checklist!
You’ve got an SVSU account, started your financial aid process, and now it’s time for SOAR: your first official on-campus experience as a Cardinal. Orientation sign-up begins December 1 through your my.SVSU.edu account, and SOAR dates begin in May and run through July. During your SOAR experience, you’ll join fellow first-year Cardinals, take your Student I.D. photo, learn about on-campus organizations and resources, meet with an academic advisor to register for your first year of classes and more! Here’s a tip: the earlier SOAR date you pick, the more options you’ll have when you register for courses. Also, you’re welcome to bring your parents or guardians with you; we offer a separate family program on each SOAR date so they get a taste of Cardinal life, too.
A national poll shows students are more than satisfied with SVSU's on-campus housing. We rank first in the nation (February 2019) among public universities for having the best dorms. While living on campus is optional, we welcome you to join a vibrant, comfortable and safe Cardinal community. Rooms are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, so submit your contract today! The next years are going to shape your life forever, and we want to ensure you feel at home here. So we offer living areas with kitchens, private bathrooms and fully furnished living spaces. We also make it easy for commuters to customize a dining plan and eat healthy on campus. More information about housing options, room layouts and housing rates are enclosed in your admissions packet or at the links below.
Keeping track of all your college details can be a lot, and you don’t have to do it alone. SVSU lets you authorize other people, like your parents or guardians, with whom we can share your financial and academic information when you submit a “Personal Information Release Form.” You can assign a special PIN that will grant them access to your information through my.SVSU.edu under "Students" and then “Privacy Settings.”
