Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering

The Electrical Engineering (EE) program at Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at SVSU offers a four-year, nationally-accredited program leading to the Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).

The EE curriculum provides both the breadth and depth needed to prepare graduates for today's job market and for graduate school. The breadth aspect ensures that students receive a solid foundation of knowledge and experience necessary for an Electrical Engineer. The depth is fulfilled through careful selection of technical electives. Students have the opportunity to concentrate in one of two areas:

  • Electrical Systems Engineering, or
  • Computer Engineering

Students selecting the first option are exposed in more depth to one or more of the following areas: digital controls, power systems, electronics and robotics. Those choosing the computer option become more experienced in the areas of microprocessors, computer circuits, computer hardware and software and data communications.
