Financial Aid

As in the fall semester, there will not be a tuition discount for online or hybrid classes, but the online instruction fee will be waived.

Students may also enroll in an undergraduate or graduate payment plan. More information on payment plans can be found at this link: https://www.svsu.edu/cfsc/paymentplans/ 

Tech Support

As with last semester, students enrolled in in-person, hybrid or online courses will use the CANVAS platform for managing coursework. Some courses include an imbedded research librarian and easy access to library resources and help.

Students will be able to chat with NEST ambassadors in real time to address any questions they have on tech and virtual instruction. The information and technology NEST ambassadors will utilize the tawk.to app, housed in students' CANVAS page, to answer students' questions. Ambassadors will be available to assist students:

  • Sunday: 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.
  • Monday - Thursday: 8:00 a.m - 11:00 p.m.
  • Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Students can seek additional assistance with technologies here or visit the support services office on the first floor of the Zahnow Library. Tech resources available for check out can be found here.

Library Resources

The Library will re-open for the winter semester on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021. During that week, the Library will be open Monday – Friday from 8 – 4:30 p.m. and closed the weekend of Jan. 9.

Regular Library hours will begin on Monday, Jan. 11, and as follows:

  • Sunday: 1:00 - 11:00 pm 
  • Monday - Thursday: 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.
  • Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

The second floor entrance of the Library will remain closed during the winter semester.

The Library will continue to offer curbside pickup services for borrowed library items. Laptops and needed technologies for coursework are available for check out. Visit the library homepage to reserve available technologies.

Study rooms will also be available in the library with capacity limits in place. Several other spaces on campus are bookable for small group study sessions and class group work. All may be booked online. Click here for policy information and to book your study space.

The Gerstacker Learning Commons

The Gerstacker Learning Commons – including the Center for Academic Achievement, the Math and Physics Center and the Writing Center – will be offering tutoring support throughout the winter semester. Most of the tutoring will continue to take place remotely through video conferencing, but some Centers may offer limited in-person tutoring appointments. More information on the Centers’ services, hours of operation and appointments can be found at www.svsu.edu/learningcommons

In addition, the Testing Center will be open for testing by appointment only.  The Center will be offering Accuplacer Placement tests, CLEP exams, make-up and accommodated exams and College of Business CS150 tests. Students wishing to make an appointment to take a test should visit registerblast.com/svsu. Additional information can be found on the Center's website: www.svsu.edu/testing.
