Isolation Guidelines for Residential Students Who Have Tested Positive for COVID-19

  1. If you have received a positive test result from any lab except for Covenant MedExpress on Pierce Road or Michigan Health Labs, you must report your test result to covidreport@svsu.edu and provide a copy of your test result.
  2. Do not attend class in person. Notify your professors that you will be in isolation. You must also notify your employers both on and off campus.
  3. Residential Life staff will contact you to review your Advanced Plan. If your Advanced Plan includes a permanent residence, you must isolate at that location, with the exception of students living by themselves in a one-person unit.
  4. If you must wait for transportation to your permanent residence for isolation, you must isolate in your own room. Wear a mask and do not interact with your roommates. If you must wait for transportation overnight, you will be placed in an isolation unit until your transportation arrives. Wear a mask when traveling home with another person.
  5. If you must isolate on campus, you will be temporarily assigned to an isolation unit until you are cleared to exit isolation. You will turn in your normally-assigned room key during isolation.
  6. Residential Life staff will unlock your temporary isolation unit and observe your entry into the unit. They will also provide a supply pack that will include:
    a. Linen pack
    b. Toilet paper
    c. Cleaning supplies
    d. Basic toiletries, light snacks
    e. Dining Services menu
  7. Arrangements will be made for mail delivery, trash removal, and meal and supply delivery.
  8. A member of the Residential Life staff will contact you each day for a check in.
  9. Your isolation will end when all of the following conditions have been met and with clearance from SVSU Contact Tracers:
    a. It has been 10 days since the date of your positive test
    b. You have been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication
    c. Other symptoms have subsided (cough, shortness of breath, vomiting/diarrhea, etc.)
  10. You will receive a letter from Residential Life regarding the Code of Student Conduct. It will outline the serious consequences of violating quarantine.
  11. When isolation is complete, you will return to your original housing assignment.

During your entire isolation period, you must not to leave your isolation unit.

You must monitor your symptoms while in isolation and notify covidreport@svsu.edu and the Covenant Health Hotline if symptoms worsen. Call 9-1-1 in a health emergency.
