Quarantine Guidelines for Off-Campus Students Who Have Had Significant Exposure to COVID-19

Please email Covid Report, covidreport@svsu.edu, immediately with any questions or concerns.

  1. If you have had significant exposure to a known case of COVID-19, call the Covenant Health Hotline (989-583-3568 or 989-583-3135, Press 1) right away for further instructions.
    a. Significant exposure refers to being within 6 ft. of someone with COVID-19, with or without a face covering, for 15 minutes or longer over the course of a 24 hour period.
  2. Do not attend class in person. Notify your professors that you will be in quarantine. You must also notify your supervisors both on and off campus.
  3. Quarantine at your permanent residence (“back home”) if possible.
  4. Travel to your permanent residence alone if you can; if you travel to your permanent residence with another individual, keep your masks on for the duration of your trip.
  5. If you must stay in your Saginaw-area residence, isolate in your bedroom, stay away from others including your roommates, and use a separate bathroom. Sanitize commonly-touched surfaces frequently.
  6. Please visit the following link to review CDC guidance on isolating at home: https:// www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/if-you-are-sick/isolation.html.
  7. Utilize grocery delivery to your apartment while you are in quarantine. Services include: Shipt, Instacart or Meijer; Meijer delivers without the creation of a paid account.
  8. Your quarantine will end when all of the following conditions have been met and with clearance from SVSU Contact Tracers:
    a. It has been 10 days since the date of exposure or since the onset of symptoms if symptoms develop.
    b. You have been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.
    c. Other symptoms have subsided (i.e., cough, shortness of breath, vomiting/diarrhea, etc.).
  9. You will receive a letter from Dr. Marie J. Rabideau, Interim Associate Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, regarding the Code of Student Conduct. It will outline the serious consequences of violating quarantine.
  10. You do not need a negative test following your 10 day isolation or quarantine to return to campus or your classes.
  11. A trained SVSU contact tracer will check in with you daily during quarantine.
  12. When quarantine is complete, you will return to your off-campus housing and/or to face-to-face activities as normal.
  13. Once you are completed with quarantine following an exposure, you must resume your bi-monthly Covid testing schedule if you are unvaccinated. If you tested positive, email your test results to covidreport@svsu.edu so you can be put on the 90 day exemption list to avoid bi-monthly testing for 90 days.

During your entire quarantine period, you must not to leave your quarantine space.

You must monitor your symptoms while in quarantine and notify covidreport@svsu.edu and the Covenant Health Hotline if symptoms develop or worsen. Call 9-1-1 in a health emergency.
