The following applies to all SVSU staff, faculty, adjunct faculty and student employees.

COVID-19 Vaccination or Testing Requirements

Effective February 14, 2022

  • On-campus COVID-19 testing is available to all members of the campus community, and we continue to strongly encourage testing for unvaccinated individuals, but it is no longer be required.
  • Testing requirements will remain in effect where necessary, such as for NCAA student-athletes and Athletics staff, students with clinical placements, and the like.

  • Providing false statements or records of COVID-19 vaccinations, test results, etc. are prohibited and may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

Effective January 14 - February 13, 2022

  • All employees who have not received the required primary vaccine dose(s) (2 doses of Pfizer or Moderna, 1 dose of Johnson & Johnson) are considered “non-vaccinated employees” and must submit to a COVID-19 test bi-weekly, as set forth in the SVSU COVID-19 Testing Policy located online here.
  • Non-vaccinated employees who fail to complete the required testing in the previous two-week period will be temporarily suspended without pay until evidence of being tested is submitted to the Human Resources Department. Additional disciplinary action up to and including termination may occur each time required testing does not occur.
  • If an employee has tested positive for COVID-19, they are exempt from the testing requirement for 90 days from the date of their positive test. They may submit documentation to hr@svsu.edu and covidreport@svsu.edu.

  • Non-vaccinated employees will be provided up to four hours of paid time off during their regular work hours to obtain primary doses of the COVID-19 vaccination until January 31, 2022. For example, Pfizer and Moderna require two primary series doses and Johnson & Johnson only requires one primary dose. Accrued sick, vacation or other applicable leave for time off may be used to recover from any vaccination side effects.
