COVID-19 Conference Center Scheduling Policy

Saginaw Valley State University is implementing various measures to limit visitors to campus during the COVID-19 pandemicThese measures are intended to combat the spread of the virus within the campus community.  The Conference Center (TCC), as one such measure to limit the number of visitors to campus, will only consider and schedule events and activities that provide critical support to the mission of the University.  

Virtual meetings are encouraged. 

Visitors to the university are expected to abide by the University’s face covering and social distancing guidelines and perform a health screening prior to arrival on campus (policies found at www.svsu.edu/nest). 

Visitors, for purposes of this policy, are defined as non-students, non-faculty and non-staff.  

Below are general guidelines for the Scheduling Policy. 

Phase AAny Stay Home Stay Safe Governor Executive Order (EO)  

  • No events or activities on campus beyond those permitted in the EO. 

Phase B: Reduced Stay Home Stay Safe Restrictions/SVSU Health & Safety Policies and Guidelines in effect 

  • Requests to TCC to schedule Internal Activities/Events that cannot be conducted remotely may be scheduled for internal audiences only and are subject to approval by the Vice President of Administrative and Business Affairs.  Depending upon the nature of the event or activity, approval by the President and/or Provost may also be required. All External Activities/Events (those which are hosted by a non-University, non-profit organizationcommercial or private party) are not being scheduled on campus at this time.
  • The event/activity to be approved must be in support of a critical University function. 
  • Event/activity participants must comply with University health protocols inclusive of policies for personal health screening, social distancing and face coverings and masks (click here for policies). 
  • Event/activity must be in compliance with any State of Michigan directives involving maximum attendance either within University facilities or outside is mandatory. 
  • Food and dining services are strongly discouraged and if approved will be limited to boxed style service. 

Phase C: Normal University Operations 

  • Event/activity requests require normal Conference Center review and approval in compliance with Operation Manual Policy 3.1-1. 

Note:  This Policy does not apply to Guest/Visitor Policy for Residential Facilities.
