With move-in week nearly finished and about 2,200 residential students living across campus, thousands of commuter students will return to the university Monday as the fall semester kicks off and in-classroom instruction resumes at SVSU for the first time since March. Since that time, SVSU has partnered with medical professionals and public health agencies to put in place safety measures and guidelines on campus. Ranking high on that list of guidelines are the need to practice social distancing and to wear protective face masks. The following list is a reminder of how those two strategies apply to different campus environments, and where campus community members can seek help in following the guidance:
Students who have not yet received their SVSU face mask and who have signed the 'NEST Pledge' may pick up their face mask in the Student Affairs office in Curtiss 114.
Faculty and staff may claim their face masks at the front desk of their office suites or from the nearest faculty secretary.
SVSU's Student Life and other organizations are offering plenty of LOW RISK ACTIVITIES — both virtual and in-person — to welcome students' return to campus.
SVSU’s outdoor basketball and volleyball courts will be closed to use until further notice. This is based on the recommendation of medical consultants to prevent the spread of COVID-19, due to the close contact involved in those sports.
SVSU officials apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but it is a necessary measure. Students will be receiving more information soon on planned outdoor fitness activities.
