SVSU Plans for the 2020 Fall Semester

November Update

Per recent executive orders from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, all instruction will take place online beginning on November 18 and through the end of the fall semester. This order is in response to the steep increase in cases of COVID-19 throughout the State of Michigan.

Exceptions to this order are classes that cannot be taught remotely that support first responders or medical personnel. This would include all clinical placements and field placements, as well as laboratory and other courses that cannot be conducted remotely in the following programs:

  • Medical Laboratory Science
  • Nursing
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Public Health
  • Social work
  • Teacher Education

These changes affect the above programs through Tuesday, Nov. 24. After that time, we will revert to our original plans for remote instruction to complete the semester.

SVSU Athletics will be suspending activity, in keeping with the order.

All extracurricular activities must be conducted remotely, starting Wednesday, November 18.

Residential students may continue to live on campus. Those who plan to leave their residence hall sooner than anticipated should contact the SVSU Housing office to make arrangements.

As we prepare for this transition, we want to express our sincerest thanks to each and every member of the Cardinal community for helping us keep our on-campus cases of COVID-19 relatively low.

Most campus operations will remain open, even if only remotely. Please visit the End of the Semester Facts and FAQ pages for more information.

We look forward to welcoming students, faculty and staff back to campus for the winter semester, which begins on Monday, January 11.
