Carmen Stricker joined the SVSU family in August of 2011 as an Assistant Director of Admissions. She participated in many duties, including recruitment, community events, academic advising, coordinating large on-campus recruiting events, and volunteering for other campus events. In November of 2021, she began her role as Director of the university’s King Chavez Parks (KCP) 4S program.

Carmen is proud to have attended SVSU for her undergraduate and graduate programs, obtaining a B.A. in Criminal Justice, a Teacher’s Certification in English, and an M.A. in Organizational Leadership Administration. She is currently a doctoral candidate in the Educational Leadership program at Central Michigan University. 

In addition to being passionate about education, Carmen is also active within the Great Lakes Bay Region. She is a graduate of Leadership Saginaw County and Great Lakes Bay Hispanic Leadership Institute, a member of the American G.I. Forum Women’s Chapter. She has been a part of many boards, including the Saginaw Public Library Board, Somos Hispanos Advisory Board, Bridge Center for Racial Harmony Board, and the Great Lakes Bay Hispanic Leadership Institute Board. Some of her recognitions include the 2011 Guadalupe Gomez Community Service & Leadership Awards, SVSU Staff Member of the Month, June 2017, and 2018 Top 50 Latinas of Michigan.

Carmen is committed to working with students to guide them through course work on their academic journey, serve as a mentor to express an understanding of students’ aspirations and fears, and assist them in developing their professional careers. Her ultimate goal is to empower students to become autonomous learners and contributors to society.
