Temporary Clerical Pool

Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) administers its own internal temporary clerical pool.  Working as a temporary employee is a great way to gain valuable skills and discover the different opportunities available at SVSU.  Assignments will vary and all temporary pool positions are on an as-needed basis. 

Interested candidates must apply for the "Temporary Clerical Pool" position listed online. All job seekers are required to complete an online profile and submit a resume to be considered for posted temporary jobs.  Paper resumes are not accepted. A workstation computer is available in the Human Resources office.  If you wish to apply for a position using the HR computer workstation, bring a flash drive with a copy of your resume to upload.

You will be contacted directly by the hiring department if you are being considered for the position.

If you are no longer interested in being in the pool please email Human Resources at requesting to be removed from the Temporary Clerical Pool.

Your application will be included in a pool of available applicants for secretarial/pool vacancies.

As vacancies and needs within departments occur, applicants are reviewed based upon skills and abilities.  Therefore, there is no guarantee if or when an applicant would be assigned.

Departments may interview a number of pool employees prior to selecting an individual.  Once a decision has been made, the department will contact the pool employee directly regarding work assignments.

The pay rate for the position will be noted in the online posting.

Unfortunately no, as a temporary secretarial/clerical pool employee your pay rate is fixed.

No, temporary secretarial/clerical pool employees are not eligible to receive benefits.

SVSU has a bi-weekly payroll with paydays occurring every other Friday.

Time cards are due by 10:00 AM on the Monday prior to payday.  

Yes, any person placed into the University's temporary pool will have a criminal background check conducted prior to them starting their first temporary assignment.
