Our Mission

The Saginaw Valley State University Fraternity and Sorority community strives to promote excellence through scholarship, civic engagement, and leadership.  We will provide enriching opportunities in academics, social interactions, service learning, and athletics by embracing values and diversity of all individuals and organizations while striving for inclusion of all persons.  The Saginaw Valley State University Fraternity and Sorority community is committed to lifelong membership of brotherhood and sisterhood while remaining accountable to each organizational values and the standards set by our educational institution.

We, the members of the Saginaw Valley State University community aspire to grow in all areas envisioned by our founders, including, chapter development, academic achievement, campus involvement, civic engagement, and positive interaction with the University administration and surrounding community. We are devoted to establishing a better Fraternity and Sorority Community by holding members to a higher standard. We are committed to displaying a positive Fraternity and Sorority Life experience by breaking stereotypes of our past and present.

History of Fraternities and Sororities

Since the first Greek-letter society was formed in 1776 at the College of William and Mary, sororities and fraternities have aided many campuses in creating a dynamic and exciting campus culture.  Greek-letter organizations offer well-rounded co-curricular experiences rooted in the highest ideals of academic standards, philanthropic work, and premier leadership opportunities. We encourage you to join a chapter of your interest, as being a member of one of our 14 sorority and fraternity chapters offer many exciting leadership opportunities for you to grow and learn beyond your curricular coursework. Each organization is unique in its own way, but all offer the opportunity to experience leadership, social activities, service and philanthropy efforts, and best of all, lifelong friends.
