This community based program assists first-year residential students in their academic and social transition to SVSU.  Students will explore university resources and engage in university activities to develop academic and social competencies needed to be a successful student.  The program will empower students to take control of their educational and social endeavors.

 Students who participate in the FYRE program will receive:

  • Opportunities for academic support through tutoring and advising
  • Career path exploration and preparation
  • Social and academic mentoring from Resident Assistant
  • Opportunities to engage with faculty and staff outside of the classroom
  • Opportunities to participate in exciting social activities and events to support community development
