Showing appreciation by providing opportunities

Kimberly (Hall) Norris has strong ties to SVSU, personally and professionally, and she shows her appreciation for the University by supporting scholarships for today's students.

A two-time graduate of SVSU (B.S.N. 1989; M.S.N. 1998), Kim joined her family’s company, Glastender, in 1996 after working as a nurse in both hospital and home health care settings. Drawing on her nursing education and experience, Kim established Glastender’s HR department, developing the company’s human resources policies and procedures, as well as a comprehensive safety program that has earned honors from the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration. “I am so proud of the degrees I earned at SVSU that I can’t help but encourage others to attend this university,” Kim says. “Providing an annual donation is my way of helping other students experience the educational opportunities offered by SVSU.” Kim is also proud of Glastender’s ties to the University. The company funds an annual scholarship at SVSU and is a “founding family” member of the Stevens Center for Family Business, part of the College of Business and Management. The Stevens Center supports the ongoing success of family businesses through education, collaboration and networking. “The University and the Stevens Center are so important in this region,” Kim says. “And Glastender is proud to be part of their continued success.”
