Master of Education – Teacher as Leader (Educational Leadership)

Mastering the challenge of education to change and improve lives

The Master of Education - Teacher as Leader (MEd) degree prepares teachers for leadership experiences within their role in the building or the school district.

Recognizing the increased emphasis and importance of teacher leadership, this program is designed to develop problem solving and critical thinking skills along with increasing the understanding of organizational leadership needed to serve effectively within the classroom, building, district or community.

Educators aspiring to lead will gain new perspectives and advanced experiences about teaching and learning that will develop reflective practitioners with the ultimate goal of increasing student achievement.  (33 credits)

The College of Education is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). Saginaw Valley State University is approved as a teacher preparation institution by action of the Michigan State Board of Education.
