The Community Writing Center

The Center for Community Writing operates The Community Writing Center, open to all people in the Great Lakes Bay Region. Staffed by trained SVSU tutors, we offer free writing workshops and one-on-one feedback to area writers in the Great Lakes Bay Region. We can help you write a college application essay, create an effective resume and cover letter, craft a short story or poem—or help develop any other type of writing you might do.

Due to the COVID-19, The Community Writing Center is now offering free online writing consultations to any writer in the area.  We can talk with you about your writing in a virtual chat via Zoom, or we can email you feedback.  To sign up for an online consultation, visit our website, www.communitywritingcenter.com.  Here, you’ll find a list of upcoming writing workshops, writing resources, and links to our various writing events and contests.

We'll be offering virtual services throughout the pandemic. When we return, you can find us most Tuesdays from 4-8 pm at our Bay or Saginaw locations, listed below.

The Community Writing Center, BAY, located at the Wirt Library (500 Center Ave, Bay City) is open the first and third Tuesday of every month, from 4–8 pm.

The Community Writing Center, SAGINAW, located at the Butman-Fish Library (1704 Hancock St, Saginaw), is open the second and fourth Tuesday of every month, from 4–8 pm.
