Camp College Day


Saginaw Valley State University, the Michigan Association for College Admission Counseling (MACAC), and Henry Ford College are pleased to present Camp College. Camp College is a fun, interactive college planning workshop for high school students! The program is designed to help students prepare for a successful start in college. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided.

The event is free, and lunch is provided. Space is limited and first come first serve registration is required. We appreciate you limiting your group to 40 students.

Pamela Pugh
DrPH, MS, President

Dr. Pamela Pugh is a public health professional with over 25 years of experience, specializing in health equity and environmental justice. She advocates for comprehensive child development through education and wellness programs. Her work includes creating tools to assess environmental health risks for children and families. She earned her Doctor of Public Health and Master of Science from the University of Michigan, with earlier degrees in Chemical Engineering and Pre-Engineering. Pugh served as Flint's Chief Public Health Advisor (2016-2019), focusing on health equity during the water crisis and fighting childhood lead poisoning. She played a key role in declaring racism a public health crisis in Michigan, aiming to address institutional racism and inequities. Elected to the Michigan State Board of Education in 2014, currently its president, she emphasizes the link between children's health and academic outcomes. Her initiatives include the InPACT at Home program for physical activity among schoolchildren and advocacy for safe school environments. Pugh also stood with Detroit schoolchildren in a Right to Literacy lawsuit and opposed efforts to censor educational curriculum. Active in politics, she's engaged in promoting the involvement of young adults and women, holding leadership roles within the Democratic Party and organizing conferences on women's issues and climate change.
