Master of Arts in Teaching (MAt)

Why SVSU?

SVSU offers a Master of Arts in Teaching for elementary and secondary educators, with the following areas of specialization: adapted physical activity, elementary classroom teaching, middle school classroom teaching, secondary classroom teaching, early childhood education, natural science, reading education, and special education.
The following endorsements are combined with the Master of Arts in Teaching degree programs: cognitive impairment, early childhood (ZA Endorsement), elementary level,  
emotionally impaired, learning disabilities, physical education for students with disabilities, reading education, and secondary level. Students seeking an endorsement must apply to the MAT program. Most coursework taken for the endorsement is applicable toward completion of the MAT degree.

Accreditation

The College of Education is fully accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and has been cited by NCATE for exemplary practice. SVSU is approved as a teacher preparation institution by action of the State Board of Education.
