Peer Advisors are undergraduate and graduate students at SVSU who are trained in general academic advising specifically for first-year students. Peer Advisors are available on a walk-in basis for freshmen (24 or fewer credits earned) Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4:30 pm in Wickes 117. Have more questions? Selecting a major or minor: Did you know that 80% of first-year students at SVSU consider changing their major? We use the FOCUS exam and other tools to help guide you in deciding a major or minor that is right for you!
Course Registration: Navigating course registration during your first year can be tricky. Peer Advisors are available to help you select the right courses for your program and to help find a section that works with your schedule. We can also help you learn how to use Student Planning to help you create the perfect schedule.
SOAR+ Appointments: This requirement is for all first-year students includes an in-person appointment with a Peer Advisor to answer any questions you might have about your program, and to plan out the courses your will need to take in order to graduate!
Advising After Dark: The Peer Advisors offer various after-hours programs for students to participate in group advising throughout the semester.
