About
Social studies are an area that focuses on society and humanity in order to develop knowledgeable, civically minded people. Teachers in social studies offer students skills to become civic decision-makers. This involves use of facts, an exploration of ideas across historical perspectives and openness to the world and other cultures. Nonetheless, students have to get a better understanding of America's history, geography, economics and the values of government before becoming productive members of society.
