Chemical Physics (BS)

About

SVSU, students enjoy the wonder of innovation as they enter the boundless world of both physics and chemistry. With the Chemical Physics program students explore chemical processes from a physics perspective. This unique collaboration between departments provides majors with a solid foundation in chemistry and physics through the use of state-of-the-art laboratories, innovative courses and access to extensive research opportunities. As graduates, students won’t just understand complex phenomena using fundamental physic principles – they’ll challenge it in their future careers!

Cardinal Points

  • SVSU's instructional facilities feature well-equipped laboratories that have major equipment available for spectroscopy, surface analysis and more.

  • Students are able to undertake research projects individually and with faculty members.

  • Multiple scholarships are available to students in the Chemical Physics program, including SVSU Endowed Science Research Scholarship.

SVSU’s Chemical Physics program offers a robust foundation in general physics and chemistry, as well as differential equations and programming. In later semesters, students explore courses in theoretical mechanics, analytical physics, physical chemistry and more. Life as a Chemical Physics major includes extensive research opportunities, superb in-class instruction and access to modern laboratories. Students will receive a comprehensive and exploratory education to prepare them for wherever their career takes them.
