Biology Major for Teacher Certification (BS)

In SVSU’s Biology Major for Teacher Certification, we welcome the challenge of navigating the classroom while learning scientific concepts. Here, we engage in all fields of research that study living organisms, developing biology teachers with a well-rounded knowledge base. Through this program, graduates can take their passion and pass it on to the next generation of young scientists. Get ready to explore the world of biology and teaching with faculty that will both support and challenge you in your endeavors. Get ready to explore and conduct research firsthand. And get ready to share your knowledge with a new generation.

Cardinal Points

  • The SVSU Campus of 782 acres also comprises an ecological research area where a range of biological fieldwork is carried out.

  • Students have access to high-end drones and other technology for projects and research purposes.

The biology teacher certification program introduces students to the rigorous world of science and research from a teaching perspective. Students will gain solid background knowledge in chemistry and physics while exploring advanced biology courses that push their learning to the next level. Students will also be immersed in the latest teaching methods to master running their classrooms effectively. With small, focused classes, students receive the benefit of personalized instruction and training throughout their collegiate experience. The program's full-time faculty is committed to engaging students and providing a supportive environment for professional development. Our program understands that the road to discovery starts when students take their first step to applying to SVSU, and it's our goal to see their passion for both science and teaching blossom with each additional step.
