SVSU's Athletic Training Major (B.S.) program is a rigorous and intense program that places specific requirements and demands on the students enrolled in the program. An objective of this program is to prepare graduates to enter a variety of employment settings and to render care to a wide spectrum of individuals engaged in physical activity.
The Saginaw Valley State University's Athletic Training program is a comprehensive and intense curriculum with specific requirements and expectations for students enrolling in the course. This program at Saginaw Valley State University is committed to creating opportunities for athletic training students to achieve intellectually, professionally and personally through their academic, professional, clinical and cultural experiences. Through didactic and clinical experience, ATS will demonstrate proficiency in the educational competencies and clinical proficiencies developed by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) and will thus be prepared to lend their leadership and expertise to the advancement of the athletic training profession.
Most students successfully pass the Board of Certification (BOC) certification examination and obtain licensure as an athletic trainer in the State of Michigan if and when applicable.
Athletic Training students can study abroad for short or long term sessions in countries across Europe, Africa and Asia.
All athletic training students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of clinical education experiences with a variety of different populations including genders, varying levels of risk, and protective equipment.
