The Writing Center (WC) supports faculty who integrate writing in their courses through offering individual tutorial sessions to all SVSU students, regardless of their discipline or subject matter. In addition, the WC can help faculty promote academic integrity through the use of Turnitin.com, provide advice for scaffolding effective writing assignments and responding to student writing, and offer tips for working with English as a Second Language (ESL) writers.
The WC is staffed by friendly, knowledgeable undergraduate tutors who work individually with students, both graduate and undergraduate, to improve their writing. Students do not need to make an appointment to work with a tutor—they may walk in whenever the WC is open and a tutor will be glad to help. Students may also utilize the Online Writing Center via appointment, or visit the Student Resources page to download handouts that will aid them with citation styles (MLA, APA, CMS, ACS), writing strategies, and grammar issues.
