|  Marc Strain Sergeant [ Meet the Staff ] [ Contact Us ] | I have worked for the University Police Department for 23 years. Prior to joining the department I was employed at Bay Regional Medical Center as a Security Officer. I was also a member of the Bay City Police Reserves where I obtained the rank of Deputy Chief. I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in 1983, and a Master’s Degree in 1993, both from S.V.S.U. I teach women's self defense class as a credit class and as a seminar class. I was the first certified RAD instructor in the State of Michigan and have been teaching RAD since 1994. I hold numerous training and advanced training certificates in various police related areas. I am the University Police firearms instructor and have participated in pistol competitions in the State. My primary responsibilities include supervising the day shift patrol and detective officers. I am the special events coordinator and one of two Crime Scene Technicians. My motto is, “Law Enforcement through Education”.  Chris Rupp Sergeant [ Meet the Staff ] [ Contact Us ] | I began my career as a police officer with the SVSU Police Department in January of 2008. Prior to that I was with the Bay City Police Department for twenty-five years and retired as Deputy Chief of Police. I consider it a privilege to work with, and for the students, staff and faculty of SVSU as my second career. I am fortunate to once again have the opportunity to perform many of the duties that originally attracted me to a career in law enforcement. I received an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Delta College in 1982 and was hired by the Bay City Police Department in 1983. I am a graduate of the Northeastern Police Academy. I received a Bachelor of Applied Science in Criminal Justice from Siena Heights University in 2007 and was recently admitted into the Master of Master of Administration Sciences (MAS) at SVSU 2008. I currently serve as the Board of Directors President of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bay County. I am also a Board of Directors member of the East Shoreline Chapter of the American Red Cross and and active member of the Bay City Lions Club. I have been married to my wife, Sue, for 22 years. Teddy Police Officer [ Meet the Staff ] [ Contact Us ] | I received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Ferris State University in 1999 and my Masters of Arts Degree in Administraive Science from SVSU in 2008. I gained prior police experience with the Bay City and Gaylord Police Departments before joining the University Police at SVSU in 2002. My current duties include patrol, criminal incident investigation, motor vehicle code enforcement, and the selection, training, and supervision of the department's student employees. Additionally, I am a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician, Rape Agression Defense (RAD) Instructor, and Field Training Officer (F.T.O.) I graduated from Saginaw Valley State University in 2004 with a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice and a minor in Public Administration. I graduated the 75th class of the Northeastern Police Academy in 2004 as well. Prior to being hired at SVSU, I gained two years experience with the St. Loouis Police Department. The university has grown considerably over the last 20+ years from 3500 to nearly 10,000 enrolled students and 500 to 2500 on-campus residents. The responsibilities as Parking & Student Employment Services Coordinator has grown as has the university. I coordinate and train employees in the area of police dispatch, citation and permit computer software and hear on-campus appeals before the violation would be forwarded to the 70th District Court in Saginaw County. I feel fortunate to supervise 20 conscientious student employees who are a necessity and an asset to overall operation of the department. Many of them are pursuing a career in the criminal justice field. I graduated from Northern Michigan University where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in psychology. I then moved to Detroit where I started with the Auburn Hills Police Department. I was a Police Service Officer for 7 years. I was a 911 Operator and a L.E.I.N. Operator, as well as doing non-criminal duties on the road. I worked many events at the Palace in Auburn Hills conducting traffic and parking enforcement. I left Auburn Hills to relocate north with my family. I have two young sons and we enjoy sports, as well as taking care of horses. After I started my undergraduate career at SVSU in 2005, I worked as a student employee for over three years at the university's police department. Recently, I was hired as a part-time dispatcher where I am primarily responsible for dispatching on-campus calls, selling parking permits and providing assistance to the campus community.
