Hi! My name is Charlene Martin I am from the Metro Detroit area. I am a graduate of Wayne Memorial High School. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Master of Arts in Women and Gender Studies at Eastern Michigan University. I started my journey at Saginaw Valley State University as the GEAR-UP Coordinator where I had the amazing opportunity to outreach to two Saginaw Public Schools, Arthur Hill High School and Saginaw High School. During my time as the GEAR-UP Coordinator I saw firsthand how passionate SVSU is to creating a positive learning environment for their students.

My main responsibility in Admissions includes traveling across the state visiting various high schools locally as well as in Eaton, Ingham, Shiawassee, and Genesee counties. I inform students of all they need to know such as Financial Aid, Housing, Campus Life and important dates to keep in mind for registration, orientation, etc. I hope you come check us out and see all that SVSU has to offer!!

Hello! My name is Kate Hendershot. I am originally from Clinton Township, Michigan and graduated from Fraser High School in 2006. I am a proud Saginaw Valley State University Cardinal and graduated here with my Bachelor of Arts in History Education in 2010. While attending SVSU as an undergraduate, I was a President’s Scholarship recipient, as well as a University Foundation Scholar. I had an incredible experience living on campus all four years that I attended Saginaw Valley. I also had the benefit of working as a Club Red Tour Guide, a tutor for the College Success Program, as well as working with the Housing Office. I encourage all students to get involved with organizations on campus because I myself had such a positive experience being involved at SVSU with organizations such as Alpha Sigma Alpha, National Residence Hall Honorary, Alpha Phi Omega, and Study Abroad.

I am excited to meet all of you future Cardinals from the Western Michigan region when I visit your high schools! I hope to see you on campus soon!

Welcome to SVSU! My name is Jennifer Pahl and I graduated from Frankenmuth High School in 1995. While at SVSU, I completed both my Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and my Master of Business Administration.

Even though I was only 20 minutes away from home as a student, I was fortunate to live on-campus where SVSU truly became my 'home away from home'. I was involved in numerous activities like being a Resident Assistant (RA) and being a member of great student organizations like Student Government and Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority. SVSU's growth has been amazing over the last 10 years but we still maintain that one-on-one interaction that is so important to all students. Make sure you come visit Cardinal Country and check us out!
