Coordination & Communication Action Team
Mission Statement
The Coordination and Communication Action Team focuses on current issues pertaining to technology and the teaching process to benefit SVSU, faculty, staff, and students. The subcommittee is particularly interested in new methods of instruction proven to enhance the teaching and learning process, based on research and practical methods utilized at other colleges and universities.
Goals and Objectives
As the Coordination & Communication Action Team of the TLTR, we are charged with the primary dissemination of information regarding services and technology available to the SVSU community, particularly as it relates to new trends and teaching methods which utilize and integrate technology in the classroom. Thus we have the following goals:
- Promote awareness of unique and effective teaching methods which integrate technology into the learning process; methods may include techniques and uses of technology both inside and outside in the classroom
- Communicate incentive programs available to faculty who employ creative teaching methods utilizing technology; recognize innovators who achieve success employing such methods by publicizing their success stories via the means listed below
- Communicate the procedures users need to follow for proper implementation, time schedules, availability and support services available for using technology in the classroom
Strategies for Implementation
- Hold regular, monthly meetings which focus upon new teaching techniques using technology and how best to promote the activity to other potential users; this would include requesting that members periodically bring articles or product reviews to meetings for discussion and evaluation purposes.
- Utilize the TLTR website to supplement the semester newsletter providing:
- Links to online articles related to technology and teaching
- Breaking news regarding equipment and software available to enhance teaching and examples of such technology being used at SVSU
- Announcements of upcoming campus visits or professional development opportunities
- Assist in the promotion of technology-related events throughout campus via mail, bulletin boards, web pages, and other means.
- Attend functions and conferences related to teaching and technology across the state and elsewhere. This would include site visits to colleges or universities either as a group or from individual committee members.
- Communicate with sister institutions regarding their use of technology in the teaching process. Explore ways in which we can assist each other.
- Consider publication of a semester newsletter which:
- Discusses current issues related to technology and teaching
- Publicizes upcoming faculty workshops sponsored by the Instructional
Technology Center, Computer Services, AV Services, the Writing Center and Library workshops - Showcases examples of what is being done with technology across campus and elsewhere
- Discusses new instructional technology equipment and software available to enhance teaching
