Alexander and the Terrible Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
Everyone has a bad day once in awhile, but Alexander is having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day in this musical adaptation by Judith Viorst of her well known children's book. Alexander's traumas include waking up with gum in his hair, having his best friend decide not to be his best friend, having the dentist find cavities in his teeth, and kissing on TV. It is enough to make him think about going to Australia! This delightful Theatre for Young Audiences production was commissioned by and premiered at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail
"If the law is of such a nature that it requires you to be an agent of injustice to another, then I say, break the law." So wrote the young Henry David Thoreau in 1849. Three years earlier, Thoreau had put his belief into action and refused to pay taxes because of the United States government's involvement in the Mexican War, which Thoreau firmly believed was unjust. For his daring and unprecedented act of protest, he was thrown in jail. The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail is a celebrated dramatic presentation of this famous act of civil disobedience and its consequences. Its poignant, lively, and accessible scenes offer a compelling exploration of Thoreau's philosophy and life.

As Bees in Honey Drown
Evan Wyler has just finished a photo session with his shirt off. No, he's not a supermodel; he's a twenty-something New York writer savoring the success of his debut novel. Defined by the media as the "hot-young" thing-of-the-moment, Evan captures the attention of Alexa Vere de Vere, a black-clad woman of mystery who's made the world of celebrity her home. In fact, it's her religion. Maybe she's a record producer, maybe she's a film agent; what is clear is that she wants Evan to write the screenplay of her life story. Just spend time with me, she says, and you'll learn all you need to know. To Evan, who is gay, it's like an invitation into the world of Auntie Mame, Sally Bowles and Holly Golightly all rolled into one. But once Evan fools himself into believing he loves Alexa, she vanishes, leaving him to foot the bill for all the dinners and Armani suits they've gone through. Trying to find Alexa, Evan discovers a chain of people who have fallen under her spell and acted as her meal ticket. For Alexa has no money, no job, no life of her own-only the one she's created for herself. As Alexa puts it: "You're not the person you were born-who wonderful is?"

Deathtrap (Senior Project)
"Deathtrap. A thriller in two acts. One set, five characters. A juicy murder in Act One, unexpected developments in Act Two. Sound construction, good dialogue, laughs in the right places. Highly commercial."
This murder mystery offers a rare and skillful blending of two priceless theatrical ingredients: gasp-inducing thrills and spontaneous laughter. Dealing with the devious machinations of a writer of thrillers whose recent offerings have been flops and who is prepared to go to any lengths to improve his fortunes, Deathtrap provides twists and turns and sudden shocks in such abundance that you will be held spellbound until the very last moment.

Life Could be a Dream
Another sure-fire jukebox hit from the author of "The Andrews Brother's" and director Ric Roberts!
THE STORY: Denny and his friend Eugene form a singing group (Denny and the Dreamers) so they can enter and win the local radio contest at the state fair. Denny wants to use the prize money for a souped-up Chevy truck (all the better to pick up chicks); but they need help in realizing their dream. Wally (the local Minister's son) joins the group to help make it a trio. When they discov
er they need $50 to enter the contest, they set about getting a sponsor. Wally has a connection with Big Stuff Auto (they already sponsor his Father's church bingo games), and since Big Stuff is also selling the Chevy that Denny wants - it seems all will work out. Skip comes from Big Stuff Auto to check out the group, and gets recruited on the spot to make the group an even quartet.
Trouble is, Big Stuff Auto's owner is 'Big Eddie' Franklin, father of Lois, who broke Eugene's heart many years ago at the Springfield High Junior Prom. When Lois shows up to help the group get ready, Eugene breaks into a million pieces; Wally and Denny each fall in love with her as well; and Lois begins flirting with these delightfully goofy young men to help them perform better as a group. Meanwhile, we discover that Skip has already been dating Lois, and Lois is already madly in love with him. But Lois' flirting has caused more heartache and problems with all four of our boys.
Will they perform as a group? Will they reconcile? Will they smooth out all of the edges? Just like any other Roger Bean show, of course they will. And they'll keep on singing hit songs all the way through to the finale at the state fair.

Bug (Senior Project)
Set in a seedy Oklahoma City motel room, the play centers on the meeting between Agnes, a divorced waitress with a fondness for cocaine and isolation, and Peter, a soft-spoken Gulf War drifter introduced to her by her lesbian friend, R.C. Agnes stays at a hotel in hopes of avoiding her physically abusive ex-husband, Jerry, who was just released from prison. At first, she lets Peter sleep platonically on her floor, but not long after she promotes him to the bed. Matters become more complicated as Jerry eagerly returns to the woman he loves to beat up, expecting to resume their relationship. On top of that, there's a hidden bug infestation problem that has both Agnes and Peter dealing with scathing welts and festering sores-which has Peter believing this is the result of experiments conducted on him during his stay at an army hospital. Their fears soon escalate to paranoia, conspiracy theories and twisted psychological motives.

One and a half hours before graduation, the audience experiences Literature's greatest hits condensed into a 90 minute roller-coaster of hilarity. Who knew Homer was so funny? ...
