The North Central Evaluation Committee sent a representative to
the monthly Board of Control Committee meeting, which was held on
Wednesday, October 31, 1979. Mr. Rudolph W. Schultz was the spokesman
for the committee. Throughout the beginning of the process the committee
interviewed faculty members, deans and some students. They also
visited the dormorties. The members of the committee compiled a
report that is submitted to Dr. Jack Ryder to check for any errors.
The report then had to be approved by a committee in Chicago, which
met in April. At this point the accreditation is decided upon.
Mr. Schultz
commented that the atmosphere at SVSC was friendly, mentioning both
the students and the faculty. In its evaluation, the committee was
not looking for anything special in the institution. The evaluation
was stated as being a balanced and comprehensive study of the college.
An accreditation for SVSC would have meant that credits would be
able to transfer to other accredited colleges. Also, graduates could
find it easier to be accepted for graduate work. The college is
presently accredited by North Central Accreditation.
