Pioneer Hall
Pioneer Hall SVSC's new science building, was opened for classes winter semester of 1978, caping over a year long construction project for more instructional space. Besides the sorely needed additional instructional space, the building added space for the science and engineering departments because of the new labs and highly modern facilites. Pioneer Hall contains classrooms and laboratories for students in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Industrial Technology, Applied Science-Engineering Technology and the two-year Engineering transfer program. Also included is a new upper division Electronic Technology curriculum.

The 44,075 square foot building has been designed as a teaching tool, enabling students to monitor all heating and cooling activities. Also, Pioneer Hall was designed with flexability in mind to enable programs to change within the walls of the building while not altering the overall structure. Five large laboratories are located on the first floor, making individualized instruction possible. Two lecture halls are able to hold 50 and 70 students repectively, and 14 classrooms allowing 20 to 25 students per class will be housed in the building. On the second floor, three electrical laboratories and a construction technology lab provides badly needed space for the college's greatly expanded engineering programs, which had seen enrollment growth.

With the state approal of funds for the Instructional Facilty 2, there became a triangle of instructional rooms and adminstrative offices. The ease of access and short distances between buildings was enhanced with the overhead, enclosed walkway between Pioneer Hall and IF2. The opening of Pioneer Hall and the proposed construction of IF2, helped the major overcrowding conditions in SVSC's classrooms.
